The area where I was born, raised and returned to is located on Liberty Road. At one end is the New Liberty Cemetery and the other is The Rock Church. My dad's family moved there long before it was ever called Liberty Road in 1889. As a matter of fact, there probably wasn't much of a road at all.
When my grandparents moved there from Arkansas, they established a home where 8 children would be born and prosper. Thanks to them and the tenacity of their pioneer spirit Tricia and I can enjoy the fruit of their early hard work.
It's still work, but no where near what they had to endure. If you go down to the Pleasant Valley Cemetery you will see the graves of many infants that didn't survive the rigor of early Clay County life.
My plan is to use this blog to share thoughts, ideas and information about life in Texoma from the Liberty Road perspective. Not sure how often I will be able to update it, but hopefully when I do, it will be worth reading.
